I hope none of us a too proud to say we never need help with our mobile photography. Whether advanced amateur or total beginner tips and tricks are always welcome and Apple has provided just that. Sixteen short videos on a wide variety of topics, from shooting portraits and close-ups to sunsets and selfies, are featured on a new web site set up by Apple.

They are claimed to be for the iPhone 7 but I challenge any mobile photographer not to find some of the techniques useful.

Yes, these are great fun to watch. One thing they didn't mention but applies to them all. It helps to have a good subject to start with.
Every educational opportunity is worthwhile. If for nothing else, to remind you of things you forgot. Visual stimulus is good.

Thanks for sharing this... I will check them out for sure.

Edit: Just watched a bunch! The videos are perfect for me... short, concise, to the point. Of course, cuz they're made by Apple. :inlove: Love the vertical pano!! I would never have thought to do that. And the Sunset Silhouette, and Stills While Filming.

Just today I was getting ready to make a picture of Fabi going by on the cycling trail and just as I was about the try to capture the perfect moment I suddenly remembered to press-and-hold for burst mode without having to call up a special app.

Thanks for sharing this tip Richard! Just watched a few of them but gave up as it was a lot of lagging. Perhaps some overload on the internet. I will open the link again when America is asleep

That happens for me for every single online video I try to watch, no matter what time, even when low resolution is selected, and not full screen. What I usually do is, immediately after pressing play to start the video I press pause and wait for a minute or 2 for spooling to get ahead. If the video is short enough I might be able to watch it without having to pause again and wait for downloading to get ahead again. For a longer video, say 10 minutes, I will have to pause more often. The joys, not, of satellite internet.

Thanks for posting this, I'd have missed it otherwise. Great tips. And since they all played beautifully, I guess there's one reason to be happy I live in America....because our "wonderful government" certainly isn't reason enough.

I don't know if anybody knows this but I learnt a good trick sometime back which enables you to save most videos to your device using the Documents app. You may even be able to do it using a different web browser to Safari - I haven't tried. Safari won't allow it.

You open the Documents app and tap the browser option. Once in the browser, you type in savefrom.net. I then bookmarked this for future reference. In the box, you paste the link and then if it works, it displays the videos and you can download them. Here is an example showing the Apple videos:

lol...so, sorry to be such a dunce...but where do I find "documents"? Even a search on my iPad doesn't locate it for me. Is it something I have to download?

This is so unfamiliar that at first I wondered if you were on a desktop computer, but your screen shot looks like an iPad. You might need to explain the steps in more detail. I understand the concept behind what you're doing but how you did it still eludes me. Where do you find this thing you call the Documents app? Perhaps I just don't know it by that name.
Edit: I just checked in the latest Apple guide to iPhone and it makes no mention of a Documents app that can be found by searching. Lots of references to documents in general.

There's an app from Readdle called Documents:

    https://itunes.apple.com/us/app/documents-6-file-manager-pdf-reader-and-browser/id364901807?mt=8

As you discovered, it's pretty much impossible to search for in the App Store. In cases like that (and there are way too many of those), I try searching at AppShopper and follow a link to the store from there.

    http://appshopper.com/all/

Edit: Although there are a couple of apps named Documents Pro, none of them are from Readdle, so they're not Pro versions of the app above.

I have the app Documents but have been to lazy to learn it. But Readdle makes good apps so I should try again some day. When I want to collect all kinds of stuff I use an amazing little app called Notebook. Easy to use and you can create different books to store your content in. That's where I store tips and tricks for photo editing Notebook - Take Notes, Sync across devices av Zoho Corporation

Yes, Ted is right. It's the app by Readdle. Very good for any documents that aren't photographs. You can save spreadsheets, pdfs, docs, .psd files, movies. It has it's own browser window and can also play movies or music. It interfaces well with iCloud services. Of course, if you save it here you then have to back it up elsewhere later. I use the Sandisk iXpand. Strangely Documents only has the option to save one file at a time if it's not an iCloud service. However, it has a zip facility so I just zip everything including the folders into a zip file and then download that to the Sandisk.

This is the interface for Documents.

    Snapseed.jpg

Looking at the settings I see that it has wifi drive so if you switch it on and use the link it shows on a PC (or Mac too maybe) as a folder/files which you can download. I will try this when my wifi is up and running, hopefully tomorrow. Again, Sandisk or something similar would be your best bet, Brian. However, I wonder if you could set up a local network, Brian, between your Mac and iPad to do stuff like this. I have to say though that networking isn't my strongest point.

I had a quick look but you save everything to their iCloud. I can't see a way of backing up all the notes to a disk?
