TWAC #4 commencing today 18th January to the 1st February, will concentrate on ADOBE mobile apps.......

As discussed elsewhere, Adobe are the Titans of desktop editing. So why do they make such unloved mobile apps? Or do they? We will find out......maybe.

Use one or a combination of Adobe Photoshop Express, Photoshop Fix, Lightroom Mobile or Photoshop Mix. All available for free on both formats although you may have to create a free account.
For newbies the idea is to make images ONLY using the stated apps, choice of subject is entirely yours.

Judging this time around is by our very own special ImageArt Ann.

Please also see the MobiTog Rules and Guidelines for MobiChallenges posted HERE.

Okay, I'm going to start this off, but not with anything startling because I'm just learning.

Right, this was taken into Lightroom to adjust the tones of the original, and then into PS Fix Paint to change the colour of the brickwork and then Liquify to mess with the distortion options.

IMG_3050.JPG Here it is after Lightroom

Thanks for the kick off Jilly. I quite like the untwisted version :D
Should be interesting, I've only got Lightroom mobile myself so I need to look at the others.

You haven't mentioned Adobe Capture, Abobe Illustrator or Adobe Sketch which are also on both platforms?

Right, I can feel the frustration already by people trying out the apps. The apps are not always intuitive.

For some tutorials go here: https://helpx.adobe.com/mobile-apps/tutorials.html

There is also their Make It on Mobile competitions I suspect to try and drum up support. I did participate in a couple but more graphic design/drawing but you might get some ideas. http://create.adobe.com/2016/6/27/make_it_on_mobile_.html

This is about it, folks. Not a lot of people have added YouTube tutorials. There are a few. The forums tend to be just people complaining about what isn't there. For example asking for say a smudge tool in Adobe Sketch (wow, a drawing/painting app without a smudge tool - go figure).

I have to admit that these apps only serve as one step in my process of manipulating a photo so it will be interesting to see how easy it is to create a complete process.

I am surprised that the special effects tools in Photoshop Touch have not been transferred to one of their newer apps. A big hole really.

On a positive note, I'm really liking the collage option in Photoshop Express. Never used it before and has lots of options and potential and quite intuitive. I don't do a lot of collage but this looks like the best I have seen so far.

Beautifully chosen colours Ann - I really like this collage. I haven't tried it yet. Thanks for the tutorials' link. I think I'm going to need it. :D

I've started with Lightroom as I know nowt about it but have a professional photographer friend I do tech support for who uses the desktop version.
First gripe, it's not indexing my pictures, it's importing them so now I have duplicates and I can't find a way to stop it short of forcing the app to close in my phone settings. I have a lower powered phone and it's taken an hour to do 150 pics so far.
I can understand this behaviour on a desktop where storage is not an issue but on a mobile device with limited storage it seems like a poor choice. Maybe I'm missing something that would make this a good thing.
Considering photos take up the bulk of my storage and I regularly have to clear down onto a PC to make room anyway........

Lightroom on a mobile device. I dunno. Not sure it should be on the list. I avoid it like the plague frankly.

Thanks, Jilly. I used one of my own images to get the colour palette that it applied across the board.

I deliberately left these out as I wanted the sketch/draw/paint option to be a separate thing. Although I'm not even sure what Capture is

When I installed Lightroom (which I love on the pc btw) I didn't import anything apart from the odd picture I wanted to edit. Not sure why you let it run rampant on your device? I'm sure you don't have to let it import everything, or like you I'd have deleted it within moments of trying it.

Is it something you use on a mobile platform?

    Adobe Capture includes 5 elements:

    Shapes:
Provides a line drawing/silhouette of a photo or you can take a photo and it translates it. Here's me typing this in front of the telly while the DH watches cricket. Can make brushes of these or add shapes in Draw.

    IMG_2391.JPG

    Pattern:
Take a photo into this and create a pattern. Here's my CNY red bird.
    IMG_2392.JPG

    Colors
Pick a photo and it will chose a colour scheme from it which you can change. Might be able to use this in the collage of Photoshop Express but not sure. Use it mostly in Draw and Sketch too I think.
    IMG_2393.JPG

    Brushes
Create brushes from preferably a BW object. Used in Adobe Sketch. Here are my feet as a brush!

    IMG_2396.PNG

    Looks
Used in Adobe Premiere App so not relevant here.

Here's the first, second and forth blended in Photoshop Mix. Not good example but just a quick example.

I adjusted this image in LightRoom. I could probably achieve the same result somewhere else, Snapseed maybe, but I liked the outcome. Cropped in LR and then Split Tone Preset applied. I tweaked the saturation and a bit of contrast.
