Join the elite Time Stamp team for Saturday, 2pm, adventures!

    Overview:
Participants are invited to make pictures for the Time Stamp project. There is no theme this round. Photograph whatever is happening, or make something happen. However, the catch is that your picture(s) must be made at 2:00pm, your local time, on Saturday afternoon. Post your pictures (up to 3) on this thread. Sit back and await fame and recognition, and maybe a spiffy new virtual award.

If you're new to the Time Stamp idea here's the overview: here at MobiTog we have participants all over the world, in many different time zones. What if everyone made a picture at 2pm on Saturday, of whatever is going on, wherever they happen to be, and share that picture on Time Stamp. We should end up with a global snapshot of what is going on everywhere at 2 pm. This could be ordinary, humorous, puzzling, but it is bound to be interesting. The Time Stamp title comes from the metadata that is added to every new photo at the time it is shot, the creation date and time.

Rules: Please see the Rules and Guidelines for MobiChallenges posted HERE

    • Standard Mobitog image rules apply. Images must be captured/created & edited entirely on a mobile device such as a mobile phone or tablet.

    • All images must be photographed and edited between 2:00pm to 2:20pm, local time. Any editing must be done within that time frame. In other words, don't rely on extensive image manipulation or compositing. These things are allowed, but must be accomplished within the 20 minute window of opportunity. Better to concentrate on capturing a unique moment at 2pm.

Secret tip: This isn't strictly a photo contest. Good reportage or storytelling can get you lots of bonus points. Helping other people discover some place near you is another way to get bonus points. Make a connection.

    • In addition to the regular (up to) 3 images, you are now allowed to post one additional image, if you want to, to help "set the scene". This image should be described as "to set the scene" or "setting the scene", or "the location" or something similar, to clearly identify it because it won't be counted as part of your submission of 3 photos.

    • You are free to photograph something actually happening, or nothing happening, or make something happen, or to create your own image from scratch, as long as it and any added parts or layers are photographed within the 2:00 to 2:20pm window of opportunity.

NEW! Time Shift Exemption: This applies to special events happening 2 or 3 hours outside the usual Time Stamp window. If you think the event is significant enough and that others would like to see it you can claim the Time Shift Exemption and move your 2pm to fit the event. This is a test to see how it works.

Post your images to this thread.

Closing date: entries must be posted no later than 2pm the following day (Sunday). You can post your images right away after making them but if you happen to be in a situation where this is not possible, you have 24 hours.

    • Have some creative fun!

Any questions? Let's try to get them sorted out before the big day.

    • There will be an overview after each event to discuss any observations of things of special interest.

    • AWARDS! There will be some new virtual awards spontaneously made up as the occasions arise. The award winner will gain the privilege of wearing (flaunting), for one week, the virtual hat/cape/glasses/etc. associated with that award. Topics might be photojournalism, humour, documentary, brilliant observation, street photography, decisive moment, that was unexpected!, quick thinking under duress, inspired making of instant art, doing the best you can in a boring situation, etc. I will present the awards but participants may nominate other participants for awards of merit and even invent new awards as they see fit.

    • Imagine being able to wear the Glowing Crown of Omnipotence for a whole week, where your every opinion expressed must accepted and acknowledged as undeniable truth.

Time Stamp is hereby declared an acronym-free zone.

Tips on setting alarms: you can use the Calendar app to set 2 alerts. I like to set the first alert 1 hour ahead in case I have completely forgotten (where's my phone!)(my battery is dead). The second alert I set 15 minutes ahead so I can get ready. You can create a second event at the same time for more alerts! Maybe set your alarm clock to go off right at 2pm to make you jump. Set another alarm to let you know when your time is up.

If you would like to join in the fun, just post a message below saying "I'm in!"

Such a hard week. Paddling and hiking every day. Good weather, extended summer temperatures. There's a big farmers' market tomorrow along the waterfront boardwalk, with other special events going on too. We plan to arrive in style - by canoe!

14.16h or 2.16 pm and I am in and already posting. I am at the IAA and I've got wifi because I'm still at the Škoda part, where you download an app to discover the exhibition area if theirs with questions that pop up when Bluetooth is activated. Very cool and I started with it just when the 2'o alarm reminded me to take TS pictures. Though this time I was a little distracted finding the hotspots between the people and answering the questions inapp. So this some Hipstamatic, and some iPod native (you can tell by the format).

From Škoda to Bentley is just a cat jump.

And that you see at least one car: here's the Škoda electric one. Nice colour.

Sorry I showed you only this one. Will continue with Bentley now. And all the others as far as my feet will carry me.

When home I'll finish RED MC judgement. Sorry fell asleep yesterday before finished and this morning was not enough time. CU!
And happy greetings from the International Automobil(e) Ausstellung (show/exhibition) in Frankfurt, Germany.

Very nicely done photos. Dramatic lighting. Is that a model of a car you won?

My alarm was buzzing away in my bag, but I didn't realise because I was talking. I was visiting my second cousin and it was 2.17 when I looked at my phone. Scrabbled around, trying to explain TS whilst desperately seeking something to photograph. I didn't even have time to get Billy (the budgie) in focus. She (for a "she" she is) wasn't happy about sitting for a photo - something about her feathers being in a mess and not having time to visit the featherdresser.

Please admire how sharp and in focus the bars are :lmao::lmao:.

This was their first fire of the year. There's a photo of my cousin, Eric, on the mantlepiece - sadly gone now. The clock tells the correct time twice a day.

I forgot to switch my alarm off so it went off, fortunately not at during my partner's swing! We were just starting on the 9th green so I was ready at the start of the 10th tee and more importantly the sun came out despite the fact we had had some showers a little earlier. The sun went in soon afterwards so it kindly shone down at the right time.

Just one photo and no edits.

We were in downtown Northampton (fortunately because it meant I wouldn't have to take pictures around my house again.)
The first one is of a sandwich board in front of The Parlor Room (run by a local record label, Signature Sounds), a small (40-50 person) venue where alt-folk or jazz musicians perform. It's-bring-your-own-food-and-drink.
    fullsizeoutput_4912.jpeg

The next is of the window of an eclectic boutique type shop (too many of which populate Northampton, with little chance of surviving long-term, and which always make me marvel at the drive of small entrepreneurs.)

Location: Sainte-Anne-de-Bellevue, Quebec, Canada. The very farthest western tip of the island of Montreal. Also known as farthest West Island. St. Anne's is a town hemmed in on all sides by highway, water and university grounds so it stays much the same. We are here visiting my brother.
In the summer, Saturday is market day. It is set up along the downstream end of the (fantastic) waterfront boardwalk.
To set the scene, here's a photo from 10:30am to show part of the farmers' market.
    IMG_2464.JPG
This was a special events day that included environmental displays and activities, monarch butterfly release, stuff from the Eco museum, live music in 3 locations, street performers, fun for the kids, etc., so we stayed most of the day including the Time Stamp window.
At 2:03 pm we were at the far end of the boardwalk where it was less busy (away from the market and Eco displays, and finishing our ice cream. May alarm was messed up because of the one hour time difference so I almost missed the time.
This end is more crowded with boats here for the day and some waiting to go through the locks to continue up the Ottawa River. It appears to be accepted custom that if you cruise in with your mega yacht it must come equipped with a suntanned, bikini-clad babe displayed on the foreword deck. In the old days a ship's figurehead was carved out of wood. I guess woodcarvers are in short supply these days.
Here is an interesting catamaran tour boat that happened to be right near us and also shows the far end of the boardwalk. I grabbed this just before a bunch of people came along to clutter up the view.

The locks are just below the highway bridge visible in the background. The locks is the main reason why this town grew at this location. At one time it was an important trade route.

Here's a 360 interactive panorama of the waterfront boardwalk area to give you a "well rounded" view of the place.

I guess this was actually my first photo after 2:03.
    Made with ameraC.

My farewell picture from the day, made about 7 minutes after closing time, shows 2 fish-headed street entertainers. They went quietly and slowly "swimming" up and down the street, emitting lots of bubbles into the air as they went.

You would never know by looking around here that other parts of the world are currently experiencing flood and hurricane conditions. However, the water level here is still higher than normal and has been since the big flood in the spring that saw many houses surrounded by water and submerged several small islands and swept away cottages, etc. People want to get "back to normal" as quickly as possible, not acknowledging that "normal" is a thing of the past. All the most valuable waterfront land is the most at risk as waters rise.
It reminds me that somewhere I have seen a building mounted on hydraulic cylinders so it can be jacked up in times of flood. Pretty hard to retrofit that idea.

I especially like your last photo. There are elements of beauty & the beast, the living plant and its will to survive, surrounded by a non-living man made environment. And, the Gloomlogue look is lovely.

I was at a funeral today, but at 2:00pm was at the Repass (post funeral gathering of the family/friends with food served) when my alarm went off. I happened to be standing next to all of the flowers which had been at the funeral. It was a sad day, but as is usually the case with these things, I saw a lot of people I hadn't seen in awhile, so that was nice.
