    Saturday, 2pm, TimeStamp, no theme.

    Overview:

Participants are invited to make pictures for the TimeStamp project. There is no theme this round. Photograph whatever is happening, or make something happen. However, the catch is that your picture(s) must be made at 2:00pm, your local time, on Saturday afternoon. Post your pictures (up to 3) on this thread. Sit back and await fame and recognition, and maybe a spiffy new virtual award.

If you're new to the TimeStamp idea here's the overview: here at MobiTog we have participants all over the world, in many different time zones. What if everyone made a picture at 2pm on Saturday, of whatever is going on, wherever they happen to be, and share that picture on TimeStamp. We should end up with a global snapshot of what is going on everywhere at 2 pm. This could be ordinary, humorous, puzzling, but it is bound to be interesting. The TimeStamp title comes from the metadata that is added to every new photo at the time it is shot, the creation date and time.

Rules: Please see the Rules and Guidelines for MobiChallenges posted HERE

    • Standard Mobitog image rules apply. Images must be captured/created & edited entirely on a mobile device such as a mobile phone or tablet.

    • All images must be photographed and edited between 2:00pm to 2:20pm, local time. Any editing must be done within that time frame. In other words, don't rely on extensive image manipulation or compositing. These things are allowed, but must be accomplished within the 20 minute window of opportunity. Better to concentrate on capturing a unique moment at 2pm.

Secret tip: This isn't strictly a photo contest. Good reportage or storytelling can get you lots of bonus points. Helping other people discover some place near you is another way to get bonus points. Make a connection.

    • In addition to the regular (up to) 3 images, you are now allowed to post one additional image, if you want to, to help "set the scene". This image should be described as "to set the scene" or "setting the scene", or "the location" or something similar, to clearly identify it because it won't be counted as part of your submission of 3 photos.

    • You are free to photograph something actually happening, or nothing happening, or make something happen, or to create your own image from scratch, as long as it and any added parts or layers are photographed within the 2:00 to 2:20pm window of opportunity.

Post your images to this thread.

Closing date: entries must be posted no later than 2pm the following day (Sunday). You can post your images right away after making them but if you happen to be in a situation where this is not possible, you have 24 hours.

    • Have some creative fun!

Any questions? Let's try to get them sorted out before the big day.

    • There will be an overview after each event to discuss any observations of things of special interest.

    • AWARDS! There will be some new virtual awards spontaneously made up as the occasions arise. The award winner will gain the privilege of wearing (flaunting), for one week, the virtual hat/cape/glasses/etc. associated with that award. Topics might be photojournalism, humour, documentary, brilliant observation, street photography, decisive moment, that was unexpected!, quick thinking under duress, inspired making of instant art, doing the best you can in a boring situation, etc. I will present the awards but participants may nominate other participants for awards of merit and even invent new awards as they see fit.

    • Imagine being able to wear the Glowing Crown of Omnipotence for a whole week, where your every opinion expressed must accepted and acknowledged as undeniable truth.

Tips on setting alarms: you can use the Calendar app to set 2 alerts. I like to set the first alert 1 hour ahead in case I have completely forgotten (where's my phone!)(my battery is dead). The second alert I set 15 minutes ahead so I can get ready. You can create a second event at the same time for more alerts! Maybe set your alarm clock to go off right at 2pm to make you jump. Set another alarm to let you know when your time is up.

If you would like to join in the fun, just post a message below saying "I'm in!"

I'm in. Tom's dragging me out to the golf course for the last time. Seems ages since we were there. I'm playing so badly now I am dreading it but hey I suppose it has to be done.

    In!
    Directly from our lunch table.
I'm in Mannheim today, another city with lots of concrete, but the Rosengarten Congress centre is a very nice building where some colleagues and I have another seminar. The building outside looks like a lot of Jugendstil. Unfortunately I took those quite exciting pictures before 2pm when we had the first break. But to give you an idea what I'm talking about see this Hipsta picture:

    HipstamaticPhoto-511527040.023054.jpg

Now we are sitting for lunch at a COA restaurant (chain with lovely Asian food). We've ordered at about 5 to 2 and 1 after came the drinks and a minute after that the food. Amazing. Quickest ever.
    Here is my lime/ginger lemonade:

    HipstamaticPhoto-511534883.722481.jpg

And with the diptic buddah picture

    HipstamaticPhoto-511534955.047001.jpg

And with the food which was Laab Gai and super tasty.

    HipstamaticPhoto-511534967.603177.jpg

Sorry for the low quality but it seems there is no time to find a good wifi. I'm actually disappointed they have none at the congress centre. And I don't know when I'm home or fall asleep right away and I'm here again tomorrow so I better post now on my data. Hope it works. (Now 2.33pm). All Hipstas no edits.

The alarm went off at 1.55pm and then again at 2,00pm. I missed them both because the phone was in my handbag! Luckily, I had told my friends, who I was meeting for lunch, that I needed to take a photo at 2pm, because one of them reminded me just after! Here we all are after having lunch. I've know them all for 40 years this year (except for Julie's daughter Bex, who I've known since she was born 24 years ago), when we all worked together at the Department of Health & Social Security (civil service).

It's great that even at your seminar you think about a way to fit Time Stamp into your schedule. Nice photos, too. And of course hearing what is going on brings context to the pictures.

I was talking on the phone when 2pm came and I jumped, realizing I had no idea what I was going to photograph today.
I was thinking of close ups but I still have no way to mount my Moment Macro lens on my 7 Plus . I ended up going back to something I had started experimenting with but not spent much time at. The microscope.

A closer view of the same leaf with a different microscope lens. This is a piece of a leaf I mounted (some time ago) on a microscope glass slide embedded in mounting liquid with a glass cover.
Still just hand holding the iPhone on the microscope eyepiece. It really needs some support brackets to maintain the alignment.

Looks like amber, does it? And so very clear! And whatever you've put together it looks much better than the pictures of my microscope 60x macro lens. (See my 52 some when at the beginning )

Aww it looks wonderful. Wanna see New York one day before I get too old to wander the pavement. I like all, and it's the greenish tint that makes it so interesting. But the last shot is my very favourite. It looks like all are sitting outside and it's late spring or even summer. I'm not sure if the houses in the back are outlook through the window or "tapestry" but it looks like a painting of reality.

I too struggled today. The alarm went off at an inconvenient moment and then I was concentrating so much on the golf that I suddenly remembered again at 2.16 and I didn't have much time then either.

Here is a shot on a par 3. Tom is on the left hand side hardly visible. In the distance you can see the next group of players waiting to tee off. There is a big gap with water inbetween which you can't see. No time to edit.

It was a long day but it was lovely being out in the fresh air and I was determined to just enjoy the walk.
