    Black and white or color?
This is of my niece after her reception. The guests had all left, we were cleaning up, and I was taking a pic of the wedding cake that was in her hair. ;). But the photo turned out lovely so the editing went away from the cake to focus on her.

What a stunning capture Valeri! :)
I would have to say I prefer the B&W version. It looks more classic.

Thanks guys. When I got to the black and white edit, I just stopped and stared at it. It was one of those moments you know the Edit is done. I just needed to make sure my intuition was right.

This is the shot I'm going with for the cake in her hair. I love her eyes in this shot... And the fact that they are just barely there.

    B&W for me too!

And I just love the second shot too, for the same reasons...the hint of eyes is so great.

I'm torn. I tend to be more drawn to the b&w but the color palette in the first one is just so damn gorg I'm finding it extremely hard to eliminate it from the running.

Here's what I'd prolly do: since the closeup photo *has* to stay color because that phenomenal red hair just makes the shot (and that is a *killer* shot, btw), I'd probably go with the b&w one between the first two just for the sake of variety. I think that other than the killer palette in the color version, the only thing holding me back is that the largest spot of cake at her hairline is more apparent in the b&w, and because the tiny ones pretty much disappear in the mono, you don't really know it's cake. If you don't want to have to go through the bother of explaining "itz cake," taking that out after you make your decision would be uber easy to just zap with a clone brush, tho... so yes, I'm definitely going with the b&w. Final answer ;)

Thanks everyone! I'm still torn.. I sent my sister the black and white.. but today is the first time I've actually looked at the two on my desk top, and I have to say I LOVE the color one so much in full scale. I had only ever seen it as I was editing and posting here on my iphone. I'm bad about not checking how things look to the real world, lol.

The other shot is still my absolute fav. That was the shot that started it all.. .taken as a joke because my mom wanted a close up of the cake still left in her hair after the reception was long over. It was the first time i had gotten a chance to actually photograph my niece on her own the entire time. I was not the photographer of choice, a friend she grew up with has always filled that spot in the family. (I will say no more on that!).. so I took full advantage!

I love how the color of her hair popped up using the retrolux filter in snapseed, and the same with her make up on her eyes. Her eyes, such a subtle feature of the photo, are infact my favorite part. This was a simple edit too.. snapseed retrolux, run through twice then superimose. It proves the point that the photo composition is the most important part. ;)
