Photojojo did an article on the Instagram blog about how to make digital tintypes. This photo was taken in Instagram with tilt-shift applied near the eyes, the Inkwell filter for B&W and Lux to increase the contrast. Sierra filter was then applied to increase the warmth. In Picfx, the Olden filter was used to add scratch effects. Finally, the border was applied in Snapseed. I always thought I belonged in the 1800's.

Impressive, Reed. Haven't heard about tintypes in years. Have you seen the History of Cameras app? It allows you to shoot images in the style of a whole range of old film cameras.
