    My thoughts as a musician would be to convey a feeling of a live performance in front of a crowd as opposed of a shot in the living room. As a quick process, I agree as a b&w photo as well as a blurred background in order to get rid of the distractions of the shot. I added a little sharpness and then I played around with lighting color from photo fx ultra.

    I will be very honest and say that if you could go get some set shots for them it would be better. That way you have more control over what is going on in the shot. Mics wont be in faces etc and the background wont be so messy. I think you should be commended for trying to make the shot special however i think you are limited due to the busy background and lighting etc. Go take some cool shots for them.
