This is an image of the band my brother plays in (bass player). It was taken at their latest gig and I said I'd edit it for their new website. I've been sitting here for a few hours looking at it and am totally stuck for inspiration.

Do any of you guys have any tips or some apps I can use to make it a WOW pic?

All that I've done is stitch two pics together and use touch retouch to remove a chair and now I really don't know where to go with it! Any help will be gratefully appreciated.

Have you thought about trying B&W?

Or maybe isolating elements and using something like addLib?

Or maybe blurring the background and keeping band members in focus?

Or splice the image and use Diptic to put the members closer together using vertical strip layouts with a nice border?

I'll try some of these ideas out. Thanks Robert. Liking the diptic idea and I'm going to take a look at addLib, looks interesting.

    Chris,
Will this be a performance image on the site or a marketing image ? Either way, I would adjust the white balance and sharpen...then have fun with it ! Get rid of the background - Laminar has a good layering fx feature - then look maybe at Glaze, Shockmypic, Moku or even Vintage and Blender for some Wow impact !

    That's my 2cents:notworthy:

It's a performance photo. They don't reckon I can produce exciting photos on my iPhone so I'm going to prove them very wrong. I don't have access to laminar as I don't own an iPad, yet!!

I'm still a very basic iMage editor and have never really tried adjusting white balance etc. Will give it a shot and post results here.

Snapseed would be good ! Bnw or vintage with some depth / drama and a slight crop !

What type of music do they play, it might be nice to have that sort of influence in the picture?

Just a thought, but then I'd go look at Folk & Rock -> cd covers, posters and images on Google Images for a real pro look at effects used.

Hey Boris! Fun thread :D Have you thought about...Noir? This looks like the perfect candidate ( as we all know Noir is very selective)!!! :coffee:

Thanks Gennifer. Like I said in a previous reply, I'm fairly inexperienced with in depth editing, I keep to the basics. I really want to show them what can be done on a iDevice. I'll try Noir along with the other suggestions. I may be sometime!!

Boris! Your work is awesome at all times. And believe me, you will find Noir very user friendly! Punch and swipe is all :)

Great work Robert! Love the job done with BlurFX. That's on my 'apps I want' list!

Just out of curiosity, is there a Diptic-esque app that doesn't have the standard square crop set up?

I've found an app that can support rectangular images giving more scope without making the image look squashed. It's called InFrameCut.

Just had a bit of fun with this iMage

Noir and cropped just a tad...I'm sure you'd adjust the contrast to your liking..I just wanted to support the Noir move lol

Thanks! Your edit is great also! There's so much to love about B&W. I miss the darkroom tremendously..all I can do is download as many mono apps and Histamatic films i can find to get a million different flavors!!

Hey Boris, ArcFrame and PolyFrame have some really interesting layouts. I just liked the Diptic because I am a symmetry geek :)
