Camera Boost just got updated to 4.5. It's a straight camera app with filters (live preview) for iphone 4S/5 and iPad 2+.

    landscape.jpg

The filters have had a huge workover this time. You can create your own filters, and I've upgraded the image controls massively - it's possible to create some really good colour + lighting changes now. Feedback on the new preset filters has been really positive, hopefully you lot will like them too :)

Here are some free download codes so you lot can try it. I'll post more later to account for timezones:

    393MFMPWLFL6
    JR7J9W73PY9J
    FFTNF3FHJLNW
    NYWRREX9RTPY
    MMAFJXPPNJ36
Copy one of those codes, open the App Store, and go to the bottom of the Featured screen. Hit the redeem button and paste it in, the app should install. Then post up here to let people know which code you've taken :)
Couple of pics I've taken with it recently:

Nice one Chris and many thanks for the awesome previews... ;)

I have to say the UI on Camera Boost is so slick and pleasing to the eye as well as being extremely intuitive in use, a superb update to an already excellent App sir... :rog:

And very many thanks for your continued generosity to the MobiCommunity in the shape of the Promo Codes, thank you... :D

By the way, if you've got the app and like black & white photography, you can get the B&W filter pack. To install it, just open this page on your iPhone and tap here.

Couple of shots I've taken with the B+W presets. This one uses the B+W Lith filter for ultra-deep shadows:

Can't remember which filter this was:

Chris, I've got a little problem. I installed it in my iPad first, no problem. Here's a screenshot:
    ImageUploadedByMobiTog1365101996.392860.jpg
But then I installed it on my phone and pulled it up. This is without touching presets or filters:
    ImageUploadedByMobiTog1365102108.424378.jpg
Then, when I take a picture the result is totally black. I deleted and re-installed the app and get the same problem. Any ideas?

    Hey Jerry!

If you need prompt support you may be best going through the Apps Support route - click the help button in the iPad version and click 'Support', I am sure Chris and his team will react more quickly than they may from a post here as they are not constantly on watch... :D

    Hi Jerry

I do indeed have an idea - you're using an iPhone 3GS or 4, and the app requires a 4S or 5. It doesn't work properly on older devices as they lack some hardware features, and unfortunately Apple make it impossible for me to make the app available for the 4S but not the 4. Sorry about that!

It'll work fine on your ipad though (the only unsupported iPad is the original one, which doesn't have a camera anyway).

Have fun with it. The B+W filter pack has 8 fairly varied filters, but keep in mind that if you don't like any you can delete them (just swipe your finger across the one you want to get rid of), or you can modify them with the controls in the FX menu and save them under a new name. Or just make your own of course ;)

Chris, just noticed two things of note... ;)

On MiPad the 'Light' preset is a total whiteout, although the 'Lighter' one is fine... :rog:

And are there less presets on the iPhone than come with the iPad?... :D

Yeah, I noticed that one too. It's because you had an older version of the app on your iPad. The current version (4.5) has a totally different set of presets, which are the ones you've got on your iphone I expect - and because it doesn't have the older presets the list is smaller. Smaller but a lot higher quality I hope!

When you upgrade to 4.5 it attempts to upgrade the filters, since the image controls have changed quite a lot. It's impossible to match the old filters 100% to the new controls, but I tried to get it as close as possible - apparently the Light preset hasn't upgraded as well as it should have. I think I'll make a new pack with upgraded and manually tweaked versions of the old presets.

That's interesting. In trying further, I found the video worked, and the "self-portrait" camera seems to work as well. But it is an iPhone 4, so I guess I'm lucky to have it work partially.

    Thanks for the reply!

Yes, I've been working on iPhone 4 support, so some parts are working. I really hoped to get it fully working for this version, but the 4 in particular turns out to be quite a nightmare to get working - it's a worst-case mix of a slower processor, high resolution screen, missing hardware features and so on. You'll find video works, but with a low quality preview (video should record in HD), and you won't be able to use some of the controls.

My current plan is to get photo mode fully working, and disable video mode on the 3GS/4. More people use it for photos, and I don't want a situation where half of the controls are disabled for video.
