Another iPhone photo sharing app but I am partial to it as I designed it :). We have some great reviews on app store and they are not from us pretending to be others ;)

Give it a try I am sure you will like it as much as we do. Also lets us know if you would like us to incorporate additional features in future releases.

I've just downloaded this and it does look good. Not a fan of having to share everything I edit but I guess that's the way it goes sometimes.

Also, I'm not sure where the reviews are on the app store. I can only see one on there.

    Boris,

If you go to settings and turn the autosave option on, you save everything that you do in AurynCam without sharing it with the community. But we would love to see you be a part of the community ( So would the Big Bird for your sharing spirit ).

In regards to the reviews, you have to choose to see reviews for all versions. We just release 1.0.3 last week. I am referring to the US app store.

    Thanks for downloading it.

    I am downloading it :D

Curious about the name? Completely irrelevant but Auryn is the welsh spelling of my little fella's Irish name Oran :D

I downloaded and tried it out. Will do so more over the next few days. On first glance it's pretty nice. Here is my first picture taken with 6x6, used one of the painting filters in your app and brought into your app twice to add the little film filters :)

Interesting app with some very creative filters and effects. I think it would work fine as a standalone app without the social networking side. Shame you have to sign up before you can try out all the features and why do you ask for phone numbers? Glad that was optional.

    Hi Richard,

I agree that it could work as a standalone app, but we wanted to build a community of people who like to create and share images.

Good you mention the phone number, I agree we don't need to ask for it.
Its gone from the next release for sure. We will submit it next Friday and I will make sure that it disappears.

Look forward to some images from you.

    Best.

I am a great fan of Michael Ende and his book Never Ending Story. I like the concept of a talisman guiding you through a tough quest ( in my case a start up :) ), In the book the talisman that guides the hero is called Auryn, hence the name.

I didn't realize it was sharing all of them as I was building the final edit. Lol. But thanks for the likes.

Great feedback and thank you for the response re the phone number. Refreshing to have a developer that seems to listen to their customers and takes time to hang out in communities like ours responding to questions and comments.

BTW, my first shot is already uploaded (I registered as rickb22); a total grab shot that just seemed to work with one of your excellent filters. :)

    Hi there,
I really liked the look of your app. As soon as signup becomes optional and I get to signup when I am ready and post when I am ready will I give it another chance.
I am sort of picky that way :) ... I do not use apps that require me to do anything that I am not willing to or ready to.
    Thanks.

    Hi Robert,

    Thanks for your comments.

Everytime we think of releasing an app, we ask ourselevs the same question over and over again which is "how do we make our app stand out in the sea of thousands of other apps". Like every other business our apps are targeted towards generating some value for the company. Sometimes the value is seen in terms of money and sometimes its seen in the number of user your app has.

Besides the business perspective there is another, may be a stronger perspective, and that is of our "beliefs". I believe that the personalization phenomenon which has invaded the mobile photo app world would go beyond simple image processing options that other apps offer. Very much like emergence of impressionist who's art went beyond realism. If it if f any interest to you, you could read this guest column ( http://bit.ly/QeTe7v ) which I wrote for computer graphics world magazine more than a decade ago.

Now putting the two together and noticing that Instagram ( 50 million+ users ) and Viddy ( 30 million+ ) were able to successfully create a community around their offering, we decided to choose the free+community route. I believe that AurynCam is not a me too app and its offering is attractive for a user to sign up. I don't like signing up for things my self. It took me a while to sign up for Instagram after it sat on my iPhone dock for months.

I should also let you know that the only reason we need a user identifier ( user name ) is for us to be able to offer likes/dislike/flag/follow etc kind of functionality. Much like Mobitog does, which you and I are a part of. We don't have access to the user or any other user related info besides that these images belong to that particular identifier entity in a database.

We have made a choice and as Robert Frost would have said..

" I shall be telling this with a sigh
    Somewhere ages and ages hence:
Two roads options , and I,
I took the one less traveled by,
And that has made all the difference."

    Cheers,

    Umesh

    Thanks for the response Umesh!
It is so good to finally come in contact with a developer who does not take offence when an opinion is offered, but who would rather explain their position to all concerned.
    Much respect.
Maybe I will give AurynCam another look after all ...

    Feedback:

I have been trying the app and have the following feedback for you:
    - nice UI
    - don't like having to log in to use app - I don't use cellular data and more often than not do not have wifi access which means I cannot use this app
    - would be nice to be able to select image without loading camera
    - the effects are amazing and interesting, definitely some of the best around

My biggest issues with the app are:
    - the enforced login
    - saving to camera roll is not on by default
    - really dislike having each intermediate image saved without my confirmation - producing one image saved eight images in my camera roll

If some of these issues were addressed I would be more inclined to use this app but as it stands even the magnificent effects cannot make up for these shortcomings.

Took two of the images produced by AurynCam, merged them using TrueHDR and tweaked a few sliders, then applied the Retro-II filter.

    Robert,

Thanks again. I forgot to mention that if you login to the app once ( when you have access to wifi ) you are able to use the app even in you don't have data or wifi.
Next release would allow you to save each result. We plan to submit it this weekend.

    Thanks again for the feedback.

    Best,

    Umesh

The latest release of AurynCam is a good one. My images don't compare to some of the fantastic ones there, but I really like many of the various filters. There are some very different ones. And, I love having the option of being able to save a photo without sharing it, should I choose. (I mean, how many pictures of my grandson would anyone want to see??)

Thanks for the great changes, Umesh!

@lamkentucky. Thanks! I feel really good about what we have now in AurynCam. Its not a met too cam app and allows for various kinds of expressions. I am surprised by the results as well. Thanks for the follow and do post images of your grand son. I am sure with the variety you can produce with the app, we won't get tired. Thanks again.
