Every now and then, an App impresses me so much that I have to see what other Apps the Developer has created. So, this isn't an App Review as such, rather a review of various Apps created by one particuar Developer: JixiPix Software.

Here is the list of current iPhone Apps JixiPix Software (http://www.jixipix.com) has created (prices are in Euro):

    VintageScene (1.59)
    Simply HDR (1.59)
    PhotoArtista - Oil (2.39)
    Grungetastic (1.59)
    RomanticPhoto (1.59)
    PhotoArtista - Haiku (2.39)
    VintageScene - Video (1.59)
    PhotoArtista - Sketch (2.39)

    VINTAGE SCENE, VINTAGE SCENE VIDEO:
For lovers of old, grungy scenes, this is a must. You can create your own Presets, or use the ones provided, there are literally hundreds of permutations available. You can make your images only slightly old, or really ancient and crumbling to pieces. Mix, match, mash up, use the sliders to create your own look.

The Video App simply takes the Vintage Scene filters and allows you to shoot live cam videos with these filters on. I'm more of a Gatherer than a Hunter, in that I like to shoot anything and everything, and then process at home in my own time...but this App looks so cool I just might try shooting a film with it! :)

    SIMPLY HDR:
No need to shoot multiple images, this App will give you brilliant HDR with one shot. Effects range from illustration, to hyper-real, to painterly. 5 HDR styles are offered: HDR, B&W HDR, Contrasted HDR, Shadows and Lights, and Contrasted Light. I just got this today, can't wait to try it out! It looks awesome! :inlove:

    PHOTOARTISTA - OIL, HAIKU, SKETCH:
These three belong to the same PhotoArtista Group. The UI's are similar, you load an image, choose a preset as is, or use sliders to create your own look, add a textured background, and hit Save. Sliders allow you to change brush sizes, depth, colour tones, amount of colour, etc. Purchasing any of the Apps in this Group enables you to buy the others in-App, so you don't have to have 3 Apps sitting on your iPhone's desktop, just 1. My favourite is Haiku, which gives wonderful Japanese-inspired ink-and-wash painting effects. Oil gives lovely, soft painterly looks. Sketch is brilliant for reproducing Michelangelo or Da Vinci looks.

    GRUNGETASTIC:
Again, this uses the same UI as the PhotoArtista Group. There are 3 Preset styles - Pop Grunge, Bleach Grunge, and just Grunge. Choose a Style, and this opens up a window showing previews of the different filters within. Choose one of these filters, and using sliders, you can manipulate the effects and add even more grunge, to your heart's content. I've even done blank screenshots using my iPhone, and creating a Grunge effect using this App, then exporting it out to blend with other images using Iris or DXP.

    ROMANTIC PHOTO:
Use this App to create romantic images, think desaturated, halo-effects, super-saturated, sunny filters, foggy looks, colour filters, glow, dreamy, etc. Again, the UI is similar to the other Apps above. This UI is a characteristic of JixiPix's Apps. Which is cool, so there's less of a learning curve each time you pick up a new JixiPix App.

I'll be looking out for more Apps by this talented Developer. Well done JixiPix, hats off to you for creating such beautiful Apps for iPhoneographers!

Nice idea, AlyZen. We spend so much time talking about individual apps we forget there are some impressive developers behind them. JixPix has an very creditable 'hit list' so far. It would be interesting to do this with other developers.

    Very good point Aly...

I have a good many of the apps you have listed for JixiPix and am ashamed to say I never gave a thought to who the developer was...

That is an impressive list of apps from a single developer and from my limited knowledge, of the apps I have from that stable, they are pretty impressive... :)

Nicel bit of research and great post Miss Zen... :D

    I have VintageScene, Simply HDR,
    PhotoArtista - Oil, Grungetastic and
PhotoArtista - Haiku and Rainy Daze. I like then all. I honestly don't see the need for Pro HDR. The pictures need to be the same size if using pictures from your camera roll. I need to check out Sketch and Romantic.

I like the Pro HDR myself, of all the other HDR apps I have, I find this one the most user-friendly. I find the Grungetastic app a bit too funky for my own personal taste, as I like my images to be somewhat luminous and clear, so if I want grunge, I use Pic Grunger instead. I haven't really tried out Rainy Daze yet, it's new and I've only just used it once. Must dust it off and try again :)!

I don't care for Grungtastic. It lacks tone to me. I'm finding PhotoForge is great,in my opinion, for texture and grunge. Haiku is a bit strange still on getting the colors to do what I want them to do.

Thanks, 80s_girl, will check out Snow Daze. Could do with it myself, as we never get snow here in Perth, Western Australia, and I do like a bit of it, especially for Christmas! Could spruce up my piccies to look wintry. Xmas Day here is meant to be 26 degrees, that's not right for Christmas! I want snow! :p

Took a picture of a meditation spot by a shopping center. I used FX Photo Studio for the Frost setting then Jixipix Snow Daze. Perfectly Clear, Dynamic Light, Perfectly Clear & Camera+ and Filter Mania/Frost. I'm posting both before and after.

I have all their apps bar one "simple HDR". I am impressed with all of them, would not hesitate to purchase any of their products

I like this app. Now I can make snow pictures more realistic since I don't get snow. I don't have Romantic from Jixipix. I have Simply HDR and love it.

Oh boy! I am a huge Jixipix fan! I actually purchased snowdaze Just Last Night! I highly recommend it! I tried several free snow producing apps before I plunked down my $.99 (darn right!) and they were simply unusable. I have found that if you use Snowdaze first and then edit the pic in other apps it also produces very nice moody effect (not snowy, just kinda moody underlay)

Impressive first image! Please do share more of your work here, McCoy. Welcome to MobiTog, we hope to see more of you on our various threads and Discussions. How did you get the falling leaves effect in your image, was it from Snow Daze or another app? Toonpaint?
